About Us

HopTo Tech, the world's first hopcopter company

Founded in 2024 and based in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, HopTo Tech originated from the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Laboratory at City University of Hong Kong. It is the first startup to emerge from the lab after ten years of operation.

With approximately two years of first-mover advantage and an extremely high technological moat, HopTo Tech independently develops its core technologies and focuses on efficient, intelligent mobile robots that integrate jumping and flying capabilities.

The company is committed to becoming a leader in robotics for complex terrain scenarios, creating an entirely new robot category and industry opportunities, and pioneering a brand-new track for hopcopters (hopping robots).

Mr. Fangzheng Wang

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

MSc in Human and Biological Robotics, Imperial College London.
PhD dropout from City University of Hong Kong to pursue entrepreneurship.
Served as Member of the College Board of Engineering, Vice President of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association, and Secretary-General of the Postgraduate Association at City University of Hong Kong.

Pakpong Chirarattananon

Chief Scientist

World-renowned scholar in the field of robotics.
Associate Professor at City University of Hong Kong and the University of Toronto.
Ph.D. from Harvard University, advised by Robert J. Wood.

Dr. Songnan Bai

Chief Technology Officer

Research Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong.
PhD from City University of Hong Kong.
Co-applicant with the company for the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Support Programme.

Mr. Haoran Yang

Chief Operating Officer

Senior Marketing Lead.
Graduate of City University of Hong Kong and Sun Yat-sen University.
Founded a renowned creative advertising agency with monthly revenue exceeding one million RMB. Led full-funnel marketing strategies for multiple well-known brands.

Mr. Qiu'ang Li

Product Lead

He is a Red Dot Award winner. He was responsible for the appearance design, supply chain coordination, and mass production of Xiaomi's tens of millions-level mobile phone products.
He has served as a climate advocate at University of the Arts London, co-founder of Wow factories, and industrial designer at Xiaomi.

Mr. Bo Lin

Lead Hardware Engineer

He has over 12 years of experience in the hardware field.
He graduated from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China with a degree in Electronic Information.
He has been responsible for the hardware system development of several million-level consumer electronics products. He is a former Senior Engineer at Fengyi and served as the Avionics System Hardware Lead.

Mr. Hui Sun

Lead Software Engineer

He has won numerous provincial and national competition awards in electronics, programming, and physics. His graduation project was selected as an outstanding graduation project of his department.
He worked at Shenzhen High Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. after graduation, responsible for embedded R&D of drones, including various airport-type drones, tethered drones, and drone peripheral equipment.

Mr. Kevin Tan

Lead Structural Engineer

Senior engineer specializing in drones, involved in the development and implementation of products for multiple sizes of drones.
Proficient in the engineering improvement and path control of cutting-edge technologies, and has authored high-value patents that have garnered industry recognition.

Ms. Fei Yan

Admin & Operations Manager

She received her MSc in Management and Innovation from City University of Hong Kong in 2025.
She is currently the Administrative Manager and responsible for collaboration with external finance, legal, and other institutions.

Mr. Song Li

Researcher

He is a PhD student at the University of Toronto, previously at City University of Hong Kong.
He received his MEng from Beihang University in 2023.
His research focuses on the dynamics of biomimetic robots, UAV perception and planning, and flapping aerodynamics simulation.
